Conflict Transformation & Healthy Collaboration

For Churches & Ministry Leaders

Heather helps ministry leaders and teams develop the relational and collaborative maturity to communicate well, navigate difference, strengthen relationships, and move together toward shared mission.

When conflict has created division, damaged trust, or left leaders and teams stuck, she helps them get beneath the surface, address what is driving it, repair what has been damaged, and move forward in healthier ways.

A Larger Vision: A Mature Church

This work is part of a larger vision: a mature Church.

Healthy communication, collaboration, conflict transformation, relational repair, and mature leadership aren’t organizational skills. They are part of learning to live and lead like Jesus in relationship with one another.

The goal is healthier leaders, healthier relationships, stronger collaboration, and churches better equipped to pursue the mission God has entrusted to them.

Heather works with pastors, executive pastors, ministry leaders, church staffs and leadership teams, boards and elders, and district or denominational leaders, whether the need is developing a healthy team, navigating significant change, working through active conflict, or supporting a leader carrying complex relational challenges.

Healthy Collaboration Requires the Capacity to Navigate Difference

Healthy collaboration does not require the absence of conflict. It requires the capacity to navigate conflict well.

Real collaboration brings different gifts, perspectives, experiences, convictions, responsibilities, personalities, and ideas to the same table. Difference naturally creates tension at times. That doesn’t necessarily mean something has gone wrong.

Heather helps leaders and teams develop the self-awareness, communication skills, conflict strategies, relational maturity, and collaborative capacity to work through those differences well, strengthening relationships, making better decisions, and moving together toward shared Kingdom mission.

And when conflict becomes damaging, resolving the surface disagreement is rarely enough.

The presenting conflict is often the fruit. Heather helps people investigate the root.

That means looking beneath observable behavior to the beliefs, assumptions, interpretations, fears, wounds, motives, values, emotional triggers, trust issues, and unresolved relational dynamics that may be shaping what is happening.

Because lasting transformation involves both:

what happens between us, and what is happening within us.

Three Ways Heather Helps

Develop

Build capacity.

Equip leaders and teams to communicate, collaborate, and navigate difference well as they pursue shared mission and Kingdom impact.

Through workshops, training, coaching, and facilitated development, Heather helps teams strengthen communication, conflict competency, relational maturity, trust, and the ability to collaborate well through real differences.

Transform

Restore health.

Address active conflict at the root, repair what has been damaged, and help leaders and teams move forward in healthier ways.

Depending on the situation, this may include individual conversations and coaching, identifying underlying dynamics, facilitated conversations, conflict strategies, relational repair, rebuilding trust, and establishing healthier patterns for the future.

The goal is more than reaching agreement. It is helping people and relationships grow through the conflict rather than get past it.

Support the Leader

Strengthen the leader.

Come alongside pastors and leaders-of-leaders navigating complex people, relational, team, and organizational challenges.

Sometimes a leader doesn't need another program. They need a trusted, confidential thought partner who understands both people and leadership: someone who can help them see beneath the surface, think clearly, consider options, prepare for difficult conversations, and lead through complexity with courage, truth, grace, and wisdom.

These three pathways can stand alone or work together depending on the needs of the leader, team, or church.

An Inside-Out Approach

Heather’s approach is rooted in a simple conviction: lasting transformation happens from the inside out.

Skills and strategies matter. So does understanding what is driving our responses in the first place.

Root / Beliefs → Self-Awareness → Communication + Conflict Strategies → Healthy Collaboration → Stronger Relationships + Better Decisions + Shared Mission

In the Church, this work naturally engages the condition of the heart alongside practical leadership and relational skills: humility, truth, grace, forgiveness, repentance where appropriate, reconciliation, courage, wisdom, unity, and Christlike maturity.

Heather uses a range of practical tools within this larger framework, including the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI). Rather than treating the five conflict modes as fixed personal styles, she teaches them as strategies. Leaders learn to recognize their habitual responses while developing the discernment and flexibility to choose the strategy a particular situation requires.

Other areas of development may include active listening, reframing, assumptions and perception, courageous conversations, communication, collaboration, trust, facilitated conversations, and relational repair.
